Create autoresponder campaign

Autoresponder campaigns allow the user to automatically send an email when a previously specified event occurs.

The advantage of these campaigns is that they allow you to predefine simple responses at the moment you consider most interesting for sending. If you need to create more complex automated flows, check the information about our Automation feature.

Create an autoresponder campaign

The process of creating an autoresponder campaign is very similar to creating a classic campaign. The only difference is that you will find one more step where you will need to define the trigger (event that initiates the automatic sending) and the sending time.

To create your autoresponder campaign, go to the Campaigns view within Newsletters. Once there, click on the New campaign button and select Autoresponder.

Step 1: Setup

In step 1 of the campaign creation, you must complete the same fields as in a normal newsletter campaign:

Step 2: Lists

In this step, you will be able to select the list that will receive your autoresponder campaign.

Keep in mind that you can only select a single subscriber list, without the possibility of sending to a segment within the list.

Trigger selection

In step three, you will be able to select the trigger that you want to start your autoresponder campaign and the fixed sending frequency.

The types of triggers you can select are describe below.

When the subscriber opens a campaign

The autoresponder will be automatically sent to subscribers who open a previously sent campaign.

You will be able to select previously sent campaigns by clicking on the dropdown menu once you select this option.

When the subscriber clicks on any link in a campaign

The autoresponder will be automatically sent to subscribers who click on any link within a specific campaign.

When the subscriber clicks on a specific link in a campaign

The autoresponder will be automatically sent to subscribers who click on the selected link from the chosen campaign.

When the subscriber subscribes to a list

The autoresponder will be automatically sent to subscribers who subscribe to the chosen list.

You can choose whether you want this autoresponder to be sent only to subscribers who subscribe after activating the campaign, or if it should also be sent to subscribers who were already on the list.

When a date field of the subscriber matches today's date

The autoresponder will be automatically sent to subscribers whose chosen date field matches today's date. This functionality allows emails to be sent on specific dates such as birthdays.

To do this, you must have at least one date field with the subscriber's birth date:

Then, in step 3 of creating an autoresponder campaign, select DD/MM if you want it to be sent annually on the day that matches the date (for example, a birthday) or DD/MM/YY if you want it to be sent only once (for example, when they reach a certain age).

In this video, we explain how to create a birthday greeting autoresponder campaign step by step:

Sending time

Once you have chosen the type of trigger, you only need to define when it will be sent. You can choose between these two options:

Fixed time

You select certain days (or a single day) of the week and a time, and that will be when the autoresponder is sent to subscribers who have met the selected condition.

For example, we can send a welcome email to the list only during weekdays, and not on weekends.

When X time passes after the event

You select a time, and when that time passes after the previously set event, the campaign will be sent.

We can select this option if we want to send something specifically a couple of days after the subscriber opens a certain campaign, or clicks on a specific link, for example.

X time before the event

Finally, you will also be able to send an autoresponder campaign before the event you have selected occurs. For example, one day before the subscriber's birthday.

This option will only work for the date trigger.
