How to add dynamic images to your campaigns

Dynamic images are visual elements within an email that are updated or personalized in real time based on various subscriber data. Unlike static images, which are the same for all recipients, dynamic images change based on factors such as user behavior, geographical location, time, product availability, or even profile information, such as the birthday.

In this article, you will learn how dynamic images work and different ways to use them in your Acumbamail campaigns.

How to customize the images of your shipments for each subscriber

With dynamic images, you can personalize the content that each subscriber sees. That is, you can assign each subscriber a different image through the fields of the lists so that each of them sees a different image when opening your campaign.

The first thing you should do is upload your image to our gallery, you can access it through the image module in our template editor.

Once you have uploaded your image, add it to your template. This way you can see the name assigned to that image in the Acumbamail media gallery. To identify the name of the image you must look at the text that appears after "https://images-editor-acmb.s3.amazonaws.com/images/", in this example the name of the image is "acumbamail_4UKz8zrl6ep9V73WWUzM/trainer.png". After copying this information you can delete the image from your template.

Next, you will need to create a field in your subscriber list. In this field, the name of the image that you want each subscriber to view in your campaign.

Now, for each subscriber, store in that field the name of the image that you want that subscriber to view.

Now go back to your template and, in the dynamic image section, add the name of your field (using its merge tag) at the end of the image link inserted in the image module.

Send your campaign and each subscriber will see the image that you have assigned in their field in the newsletter. A subscriber to whom you have not assigned any value in their field will see the "original" image:

If you have assigned an image to a subscriber in their field, that will be the one they see:

The first thing we have to do is create the image to which we want to add these fields. For this, we are going to use Nifty Images, which will allow us to add the field we want to the URL of our image.

Create an account on Nifty Images and log in. Access the "Personalized Image" section.

You can choose your own image, start with a blank canvas, or with a template.

Once in the image editor, you will have different options such as adding text, shape, image... keep in mind that some of these functions are only available in their payment plan.

The option we are interested in is the "Merge tag layer".

By clicking on it, we can create a new Merge tag.

We will name it "txt", and in the next option "Fallback text", we can choose the text that will be displayed in case we do not have the information we want to display in the image, in this case, the name of our subscriber.

In the next window, leave everything the same.

Now comes the most important part, you must add the name of the field exactly as you have it configured in your subscriber list in your email service provider, that is, in Acubamail. If not, it will not work.

After saving, the text will appear in your image and you can reposition it wherever you want.

Save the image and you will have the URL of our dynamic image available.

All you have to do is copy that URL and go to your Acumbamail template. Add an image module and in the URL section, below the "choose image" button, paste the link and you will see how your image appears in the template.

Next, enable the dynamic image option and paste the URL again into the box that just appeared.

The only thing left is to send your campaign, and your subscribers will be able to see their name in your email.

Here's a video tutorial from our YouTube channel so you can follow it step by step.
